How is a prebiotic different to a probiotic?
So first of all, probiotics are beneficial bacteria that live mostly in your large intestine (colon). By contrast, prebiotics are indigestible (to us) fiber, which probiotics feed on in order to survive and thrive in the gut. How do I know if I should take this supplement?

When should I take Friendly Prebiotics?
We recommend taking it with or after your dinner - just mix it up in 8 fl oz or 240ml of water and you're good to go. Of course, if you can't take it then, it is okay to take at other times of day - just monitor how your body responds.
How should I take it?
If you think the only answer is “mix in water,” we’ve got some surprises for you. Friendly Prebiotics can be used in several fun, different ways. Sure, with a neutral flavor that mixes easily, you can do the usual mix in water routine. Or, you can mix it in any beverage hot or cold. Don’t be afraid to add it to your morning coffee or tea. The prebiotic fibers are not heat sensitive. Unlike throwing crabs in a boiling pot of water, you’re not going to harm the prebiotics; they’re not living creatures like probiotics. Considering they’re not heat sensitive, you can also add the prebiotics to any hot or cold meal: yogurt, soup, smoothies, gluten-free baked goods, etc. Let your imagination run wild. Just make sure you allow for up to 20 seconds of stirring to completely dissolve.
How much should I take?
Start with 1 scoop at night. Each scoop provides 2.5 grams of prebiotic fiber. If you want a second scoop, take it with your breakfast or lunch.
How many servings / days supply?

Can I take it with my medications?
If you are taking any medications, please consult your physician before using this or any dietary supplement. Prebiotics can interfere with the absorption of certain medications which include; antidepressants, anti-epileptics, penicillin, digoxin and lithium. They may also reduce blood sugar levels which should be taken into consideration if you take diabetes medication such as insulin and metformin. In particular, Acacia can decrease the absorption of amoxicillin, an antibiotic commonly used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), chest infections and ear infections in children. It is recommended the prebiotics (containing acacia gum) are administered 4 hours pre- or post-amoxicillin.
